[…] After months of community opposition, Punjab Property Inc., a semi-truck and tractor repair company, has withdrawn its proposal to rezone an area along 8600 Combs Road in Indianapolis. The company had hoped to expand its business in Franklin Township, which is home to endangered species and helps prevent flooding by collecting water and slowly releasing it into nearby bodies of water. Southsiders and environmental activists have been concerned that development could harm the sensitive biosystem. If the plan is altered, it would be considered a new petition and letters of support and opposition must be submitted again. However, Wetlands Not Warehouses Franklin Township is working to convert a 45-acre area near 8600Combs Road into a wetland nature preserve.
