The latest film based on a book by Indianapolis resident John Green will debut on Max on May 2.

“Turtles All the Way Down," on which Green is an executive producer, is from New Line Cinema and Temple Hill.

The film is based on Green’s best-selling 2017 young adult novel of the same name. The novel, set in Indianapolis, sat at the top The New York Times Best Seller list of Young Adult Hardcover Books for 15 weeks.

The film, according to Max, “tackles anxiety through its 17-year-old protagonist, Aza Holmes … trying to be a good daughter, a good friend, and a good student, all while navigating an endless barrage of invasive, obsessive thoughts that she cannot control. When she reconnects with Davis, her childhood crush, Aza is confronted with fundamental questions about her potential for love, happiness, friendship, and hope.”

Holmes is played by Isabela Merced. Other cast members are Cree Cicchino, Felix Mallard, Maliq Johnson, Poorna Jagannathan, Judy Reyes and J. Smith-Cameron.

The movie is directed by Hannah Marks and written by executive producers Elizabeth Berger and Isaac Aptaker.

Richard Brener, Nikki Ramey and Paulina Sussman are executive producers on behalf of New Line Cinema, alongside executive producers Green, Laura Quicksilver, Bart Lipton and Rosianna Halse Rojas.

The movie will stream at max.com.
