LAWRENCE, Ind. — Police in Lawrence are asking for help locating a person they said escaped from a hospital Thursday.

A spokesperson with the Lawrence Police Department said 27-year-old Curtis Lowder was being sought after he left Options Treatment Center at 5602 Caito Drive, near East 56th Street and Interstate 465.

Lowder is 5 feet, 10 inches tall, weighs 145 pounds and was last seen wearing a hospital gown and socks. The gown Lowder had been wearing was found and police believe he may just be wearing underwear at this time.

The spokesperson said Lowder left the facility while being processed for admission. He is believed to be in danger and in need of immediate medical attention.

If you see Lowder, you're asked to call police at 317-545-7575 or 911.

There are specific standards a person's disappearance must meet in order for police to declare an Amber Alert or a Silver Alert.

Amber Alerts are for children under the age of 18 who are believed to have been abducted and in danger. Police also need to have information about a suspect and their car to issue an Amber Alert.

Silver Alerts are for missing and endangered adults or children. They are much more common for missing people. It was not until last year when the standards for Silver Alerts were expanded to include children.

In both situations, these alerts must be issued by police.
