Developer proposes turning Washington Square into a luxury resort

(MIRROR INDY) — A luxury hotel and spa. Rooftop dining and an entertainment venue. Senior living and a Ferris wheel. Developer BRC Commercial Properties, LLC, has proposed to convert Washington Square Mall into a luxury hotel and spa, along with senior living and a Ferris wheel. The concept is called "The Washington Grand Hotel, Resort, and Conference Center" and estimated it will cost about $5 billion. About two dozen residents gathered to hear about the proposal at a meeting on Oct. 22. Representatives for BRC stated that the ideas shared are not set in stone and there will be future meetings for residents to share their input. The project would be funded by major international investors, but could not identify the investors due to nondisclosure agreements. Once BRC has purchased the property, BRC hopes to complete the project within five years.
