IMPD officer arrested on drunk driving charges, police say
An off-duty Indianapolis police officer faces charges after a reported drunk driving incident at a west side apartment complex. Off-duty Indianapolis police officer, Chaise Watkins, has been charged with DUI following a reported drunk driving incident at an apartment complex. Watkins, who has served with the department for three years and recently assigned to IMPD’s North District, was found with signs of intoxication when he parked his marked police vehicle in a parking spot at the Stadium Lofts apartment complex early Tuesday morning. Watkins was arrested on preliminary charges of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and endangering a person, and an OVWI with a blood alcohol content of 0.15 or higher, more than twice the legal limit. Watkins has been placed on administrative leave without police powers.
