Dr. Jerry Buhler, a devoted family man, accomplished chemist, and dedicated community volunteer, passed away peacefully at the age of 45. Born in 1945 in Lafayette, Indiana, Buhlers was raised in Alabama and earned his PhD in organic chemistry from Purdue University in 1973. He spent 30 years working at Eli Lilly in leadership roles in manufacturing, quality control, and IT, leading to the transition of the insulin business to biosynthetic insulin, which benefited millions of diabetics worldwide. In his retirement, he volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, joined church mission trips to Guatemala, and supported Zionsville Restore.
