When: Classes are held at 6 p.m. on the following dates:

• Aug. 20 — Closing your garden and preparing for winter.

Why: To empower the community to learn how to garden.

Bethany Community Gardens harvests over 5,000 pounds of produce each season. The food is shared with volunteer gardeners and three local pantries on the south side of Indianapolis.

Around eight garden beds are used to grow vegetables preferred by the Burmese community, which has a large refugee population in the area.
