New electric vehicle charging stations coming to Michiana

If you own an electric vehicle, INDOT is about to make your life a bit easier when it comes to finding a charging station. INDOT has announced 39 sites along Indiana's interstate highway system as part of the first round of awards for the state's Charging the Crossroads plan. The sites were selected from over 100 applicants and will be part of a second round of funding for the program, which will focus on addressing gaps in the state’s electric vehicle charging network. Most of the sites are located along the Indiana Toll Road.

INDIANAPOLIS (WNDU) - If you own an electric vehicle, INDOT is about to make your life a bit easier when it comes to finding a charging station.

On Thursday, the department announced 39 sites along Indiana’s interstate highway system as part of the first round of awards for the state’s Charging the Crossroads plan.

Later this year, INDOT plans to release a second round of funding for the program, focusing on addressing the remaining gaps in the state’s electric vehicle charging network.

Here’s a list of the ones in Michiana, with most of them being along the Indiana Toll Road. The sites were selected from more than 100 applicants.
