Motorcyclist killed after disregarding stop sign in Monroe County crash

The crash happened around 5:45 p.m. Sunday. A two-vehicle crash occurred at the intersection of East Dillman Road and South Old State Road 37, south of Bloomington, Monroe County, shortly before 5:45 p.m. on Monday evening. Deputies found a motorcycle and another vehicle involved in the crash, but the driver of the motorcycle was pronounced dead by the Monroe County Coroner's Office. The other car driver was not badly injured. The investigation is ongoing to identify the driver.

Just before 5:45 p.m., Monroe County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a report of a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of East Dillman Road and South Old State Road 37, south of Bloomington.

Deputies arrived on the scene and found a motorcycle and another vehicle that were involved in the crash. First responders then found the driver of the motorcycle and attempted to save them, but they were ultimately pronounced dead by the Monroe County Coroner's Office.

No condition of the driver in the other car was provided by police.

In the investigation, MCSO learned that the motorcyclist had been driving east on East Dillman Road when they disregarded a stop sign at the intersection.

This crash is still under investigation. The Monroe County Coroner's Office is working to identify the driver, and will release their name once family is notified.
