INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WEHT) – Following their 79-77, NIT Championship loss to Seton Hall, Indiana State head coach Josh Schertz notified the media that sophomore guard Isaiah Swope had played the second half of the season with a complete tear of his lateral meniscus and loose cartilage in his left knee.

“[Swope] is playing with a piece of loose cartilage floating in his knee and he’s playing with a completely torn lateral meniscus in his left knee,” Schertz said. “Has a complete tear. And he’s been playing with a complete tear since early February. And in the era where, hey, you know, guys are skipping bowl games and are not playing in the NIT or whatever. Like this dude put off surgery to be there for his team. That’s all you need to know about him. I mean, like, the courage, the toughness.

Despite his injury, the former Castle Knight and Southern Indiana Screaming Eagle still scored a team-high 19 points in the final game and averaged 15.9 points per game.
