329 employees to be laid off when maintenance plant closes at IND airport
Aviation maintenance company AAR will close its Indianapolis facility, laying off 329 workers a month after a $78 million acquisition. AAR Aircraft Services, the largest heavy airline maintenance provider in the country, plans to close its Indianapolis facility at the Indianapolis International Airport by February 2027 and lay off about 329 employees in phases throughout 2026 and 2027. The Illinois company, which provides maintenance, supply chain and engineering services to commercial airline and government clients, operates a 367,000-square-foot facility at 2825 West Perimeter Road that can accommodate up to 15 aircraft at one time. The layoffs are set to begin on Feb. 15, 2026, 2027, and will continue through February. All employees will receive 60 days notice prior to their separation date.
