Witnesses reported seeing five to 10 gunshots and hearing Peregrinos rapping while holding guns at a party. After being arrested for a carjacking shortly after the shooting, IMPD found a 9mm Glock 17 with an extended magazine and green laser sight from Peregrinho. The suspect has now been charged as an adult with felony murder and faces several charges including kidnapping while hijacking a vehicle.

INDIANAPOLIS — A teen is now charged with the fatal shooting of a 15-year-old at a Halloween party last October after Indy police arrested him for a carjacking just hours later.
Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department crews were called on Oct. 21, 2023, to an east side gas station for a person shot. Medics later pronounced 15-year-old Edwin Simon-Osorio, who had been at a nearby Halloween party, dead from a gunshot wound.
Now, nearly eight months later, IMPD has charged 17-year-old Alan Peregrino in connection to the shooting. Peregrino had already been arrested by IMPD just hours after the shooting for a nearby carjacking.
IMPD spoke with neighbors who said a massive Halloween party was being held in the 5400 block of E. 20th Street with over 100 people in attendance. Around 1:30 a.m., five to 10 gunshots rang out and one neighbor saw at least 50 people scatter from the party.
While gathering evidence from the shooting scene, officers found a broken tree branch in the street and several fired 9mm cartridge casings in the road.
According to court documents, IMPD began interviewing party attendees who said that Peregrino was drunk, getting into arguments and waving around two guns inside the party.
Witnesses said that the Peregrino later went outside and began rapping while pointing a laser on the gun at people. Simon-Osorio reportedly told Peregrino to “chill and put the guns away” and the suspect was heard saying “Na, na. Imma start shooting.”
Soon after being called to investigate the shooting, IMPD crews were also dispatched to a carjacking just a few blocks away. A neighbor reported that a male, later identified as Peregrino, had crashed a stolen car near his house and was waving a gun.
Police later recovered the gun, a 9mm Glock 17 with an extended magazine and green laser sight that the neighbor took from the suspect, and Peregrino was arrested. Victims described how, while fleeing the party, Peregrino jumped into their car and forced them to drive at gunpoint.
IMPD detectives soon received reports that a Hispanic male with an “Edgar” haircut named Alan was the shooter. Officers made the connection that the alleged shooter and the carjacking suspect shared the same name.
Court documents filed Monday in Marion County Court detail how lab forensics teams have matched Peregrino’s gun to bullet casings found on scene. Videos from the party also showed Peregrino waving guns and several witnesses picked him out of a photo array lineup.
With this evidence, Peregrino has now been charged with felony murder. He made his first appearance in court Wednesday morning to learn his charge and is due back in a few weeks to evaluate his legal counsel.
For his alleged role in the carjacking, Peregrino faces several charges including kidnapping while hijacking a vehicle, armed robbery, criminal recklessness and more. A pretrial conference in this case is scheduled for next Tuesday, June 18.
